Does Your Dog Have What It Takes?

"A Therapy Dog is born, not made. Yes, one can teach a dog mannerly behavior, but one cannot change a dog's inherent temperament. When a dog is put under stress, poor or marginal temperament will surface. Therefore: What are we looking for?"

"A Therapy Dog must have an oustanding temperament. This means that the dog should be outgoing and friendly to all people; men, women, and children. The dog should be tolerant of other dogs (of both genders) and non-aggressive toward other pets. Before you consider having your dog evaluated, you should ask yourself if your dog has these qualities."

If you would like more information on Therapy Dog Certification, please visit
Therapy Dog International.

PLEASE NOTE: While Obedient K9 Dog Training Team Members are certified to administer AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing for CGC certification, we are NOT certified therapy dog evaluators.  However, we are happy to help you find an organization that CAN assist you in therapy dog certification.
Treasured Friend
I lost a treasured friend today
The dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And shared her silent thoughts with me.

She’ll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favorite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to his golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.

Dedicated to Sierra
Our eldest company dog
We are all saddened by her loss on 11/13/2011
