Will You Help a Homeless Animal?
Winter is here and so is cold weather.  As you clean your home and garage, remember that one man's trash is another man's treasure.  Area shelters are always in need of towels, sheets, blankets and quilts. They will graciously accept used (but good condition) pet beds, toys, dishes, kennels & crates.

Did you know that should you buy a food (or treats) that your pet does not like, you can donate it to your local shelter?  Dry cat and kitten food is in great demand as well. Also desperately needed...BLEACH.  Shelters use ALOT of bleach to help control illness and odor. If schedules do not allow you to take items to the shelter, please leave them with us.  We will be HAPPY to drop them off for you!
Shadow came to us because she lacked manners and training. She loved to jump on people and accidentally knocked a toddler down. We trained her and found her a wonderful home where she is living the high life!

The following dogs came to us from various sources but all had two things in common, they were about to become homeless and they had no formal obedience training.  We invested a little time training them and a lot of time finding them THE perfect home. Congratulations to the following people!  You have found a true companion! (Stay tuned and watch as this section grows!)
Bella came to us because her family had no time to train her. She had no manners and was not housebroken. She was such a sweet dog that she quickly wiggled her way into all our hearts. She was adopted by Jennifer O'Donnell and her fiance Shawn.
Gotti came to us because the children in the household were afraid of him. He was under a year old and had no manners. We trained him and just before Christmas 2007, he was adopted by Diane Petras and her son Mikey. Diane and Gotti recently joined our training team!
Sheba came to us when her owner moved to an apartment that did not allow dogs. She had spent most of her life in a crate or in an outside kennel. She had not training and was fearful of strangers and new situations. We trained her and brought her out to all group sessions to meet new people. One of our clients saw Sheba during training classes, fell in love with her and adopted her!

Savannah had been credited with saving a prior owner's life in a fire; however, the fire left her without a home and family. After spending close to 6 months in private boarding, Savannah was adopted and went to her new home on Chirstmas Eve. One could not have asked for a better present!

Cynder came to us as a baby of about 2 1/2 to 3 months old. Kennel manager Nancy Rylee describes her initial meeting as "love at first sight." A little over a year later, Cynder can be seen on our training field or at events strutting his stuff with lead trainer Bill Rylee as one of our company dogs!

Quincy attended AWA's Pet-A Plooza on Sept 20th.He and mom took home a trophy! His award: MOST INSPIRING RESCUE

ADOPTED DOGS LEAVE PAW PRINTS ON YOUR HEART FOREVER
On the evening of Saturday, December 12, 2010 the following heading was breaking news on television, radio, internet and newspapers:

State S.P.C.A. Raids Goshen Home Multiple Dogs Found Dead

“Six dogs were found buried in the backyard; officers said they stopped digging because they had enough evidence to charge her.

Fifty seven sick and malnourished dogs were being kept in unconscionable conditions inside a home covered with fecal matter and urine. Dogs were also housed outside, their pens were covered in feces. Their water was frozen and little evidence of food could be found.

The dogs are receiving emergency medical attention from a veterinarian who responded to the scene.”

Months later, the case is still being worked by dedicated NJSPCA officers.  Recently, 22 of the 60 dogs (the news reports were incorrect on the actual number of dogs seized) were signed over to the NJSPCA and are in need of loving forever homes.

Meet Chelsea, one of the 22 dogs seeking new homes. She is a lovely, young, black lab mix in search of a loving forever home.  Her life has been a nightmare so it is understandable that is very shy and frightened.  Despite all that has happened to her in her young life, she is still willing to give her trust to those who will take the time to get to know her.  Chelsea is spayed and current on all her vaccinations.  She is good with other dogs, cats unknown.

If you would like to know more about Chelsea, please call 1-609-261-0254.
Do you want to help a dog but find you just cannot adopt one right now? Well you can...Fourteen of the dogs seized on Dec. 12, tested positive for heart-worms and other parasites. Some of the dogs require additional treatments for heart worm before they can be adopted.

There is a very GOOD possibility that one of these dogs is being fostered in your county. Please help a dog get the treatment it needs by donating. Every single dollar helps! Visit http://www.njspca.org/ or send me a message if you would like more information on how to donate.
